This palace at the time of the Austrian and Austro-Hungarian empires was the official winter or urban residence of the emperor and his family. In fact most of the year the yard was just in the Hofburg. After World War II Hofburg became the official residence of the President of the Republic of Austria. This palace is grandiose, among its more than 2,500 halls and rooms are allocated rooms and libraries staterooms.

Since then, modern palace complex preserved chapel in Gothic style and the building of the royal treasury.
